Job Description
Job Purpose:
The role is responsible for consolidated management accounts, budget preparation, reliable financial forecasting, and quarterly and annual statutory reporting. In addition, the Finance Controller provides performance monitoring, long-term financial planning, and financial insights to guide and consult decision-making and support the growth of international operations.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Review of Consolidated Financial Statements
- Review monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements prepared by the Global Shared Service Center (GSSC) and local accounting teams to ensure accuracy and compliance with international accounting standards.
- Validate reporting from international subsidiaries and hub entities, ensuring alignment with corporate requirements.
- Identify discrepancies, recommend adjustments, and ensure financial data is properly reflected in reports.
2. Management Reporting
- Review and validate monthly management reports for international hubs to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Ensure reporting procedures are standardized across regions, regularly updated, and aligned with evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with regional and hub finance teams to maintain clarity and consistency in reporting.
3. Cash Flow Forecasting
- Prepare and review consolidated cash flow forecasts on a monthly basis for submission to Treasury.
- Monitor and analyze cash flow for international subsidiaries and hub entities, coordinating with regional teams to optimize liquidity.
4. Performance Monitoring
- Track and analyze business performance across international hubs, comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts.
- Provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations to support hub and regional leadership teams.
5. Support for Investor Relations (IR) and Credit Ratings (TRIS)
- Deliver accurate and timely financial information to support investor relations and credit rating assessments.
- Prepare financial documents and presentations ensuring IR and TRIS teams receive the latest reliable data.
6. Budget & Financial Forecast Preparation
- Lead the preparation of the annual budget and monthly financial forecasts for international hubs, including cash flow projections.
- Coordinate with business units (BUs), subsidiaries, and joint ventures (JVs) to consolidate inputs.
- Ensure budgets reflect corporate strategy while capturing local hub dynamics.
7. Budgetary Analysis & Presentation
- Develop and deliver timely budgetary analysis and presentations for international operations.
- Provide senior management with insights into international performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Recommend solutions for deviations from budgeted performance.
8. Long-Term Financial Planning
- Lead the preparation of the 5-year financial plan for international hubs, aligning financial forecasts with long-term strategic objectives.
- Develop and provide supporting financial analyses, feasibility studies, and financial models to assist in corporate strategy development and decision-making for international markets.
9. Ad-hoc Financial Support & Special Projects
- Perform additional financial analysis and reporting as assigned.
- Support special projects relating to international hubs, including mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, system implementations, and process improvements.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial or controllership role.
- Professional qualification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills
- Strong enabler of a result-driven work culture with focus on performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Strong people management and development
- Strong background in international finance operations, consolidation, and reporting
- Excellent knowledge/ experience/ passion in food / retail business/ regional hub structures is an advantage
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally frequently and stay abroad for extended periods
