Job Description

Job Purpose

Responsible for providing the accurate insights of relevant commodity trend, industry movement, cost drivers, and their implication to Minor Food’s product cost, quality, and supply availability for making ahead-of-game sourcing strategic and tactical plan to secure and deliver competitive advantages for Minor Food including Minor Food brands, Minor Food factories, Minor Food International Hubs, and external business partners.

This role would lead the visibility of business insights on both internal and external environment enabling timely and sound decision making in all supply chain matters, through structural, hands-on, and holistic works around research, data analysis and formulation, first-hand information collection and verifying with relevant stakeholders.  In addition, the responsibility includes translating strategic direction and business objectives established by Minor Food’s top executives into holistic feasibility study, business plans, and financial model to support strategic decision making.

Main Responsibilities

Commodity Tracking / Projection & Cost Saving

  • Deep analysis and monitor all relevant commodity which may affect future market price.

  • Lead on advice of future commodity trend.

  • Lead data formulation, analysis, insight finding and recommendation to fulfil brand/executive requirement, as well as to deliver COG target and relevant supply chain KPIs for all brands through global/local supply chain strategies and initiatives.

  • Monitor and analyse global/local supply movement and price outlook of relevant cost components, which may influence supply and product cost.

  • As part of the product cost saving objective, build data repository and conduct analysis of product cost break-down, cost drivers from upstream to downstream, spending by category, supplier, market, brand to support decision making on volume consolidation, activity-based improvement in the value chain, as well as enabling product quality and service efficiency improvement.

  • Follow up on saving achievement and report variances on a monthly basis using available tools and channels.

Supply Chain Strategies & Supplier Initiatives

  • Lead analysis, and information preparation for Minor Food’s supply chain strategy / policy, and global supply chain relevant matters / initiatives.

  • Act as a contact point on data intelligence and initiative implementation follow-up on relevant supply chain initiatives with individual country team.

  • Act as the department’s expert to support people development, in regards to supply chain intelligence through analytical reporting and tools on regular and ad-hoc basis.

  • Work with individual country on supply chain / supplier initiative implementation progress reporting, as well as facilitate any issue resolution requiring Global support.

Feasibility Study & Business Plan

  • Drive a rigorous approach to conducting a justified holistic business plan to support executive’s decision making, and to facilitate systematic implementation with internal and external relevant stakeholders.

  • Initial project study (literature review, market research, data gathering) for hypotheses justification or project scope shaping.

  • Develop feasibility study, business case and business model mainly to serve strategic initiative and investment decision on Global Supply Chain Capability Development, which involves, but not limited to, global vertical integration, make-vs-buy decision, various partnership model, global procurement office model, sourcing model for global market expansion, product cost saving.

  • As part of feasibility study, conduct comprehensive analysis on specific product category’s supply chain, to suggest insights on key drivers in the end-to-end value chain concerning demand, supply, cost, quality, legislation impact, and sustainability in the global context, and their implication to Minor Food’s business objectives.

  • Support the study and assessment on global sourcing infrastructure to support new market entry, to achieve tax, financial, and economies of scale objectives.

  • Examine various financial models, which clearly picture out investment requirement, financial statement projection on various scenarios and risk profiles, with cost driver assumption detail.

  • Recommend solutions based on consultation with impacted internal and external stakeholders, while remain objective and independent of the specific stakeholders.

  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders, team members, colleagues, etc. and follow up on result.

  • Transform ideas, concepts, analysis, insights and/or business proposals into meaningful presentations and action plans. Verify assumptions and facts.

Qualification

Qualifications

  • Knowledge in commodity economics (e.g. Dairy, Wheat, Pork, Chicken, Meat, Seafood, Vegetable, Agricultural) in aspects of global economics analysis, cost drivers analysis, making trend and future impact recommendation.
  • Knowledge in commodity value chain and their cost drivers.
  • Well-rounded or personal interest in World’s economics particularly cause-and-effect on commodity supply and demand, and ability to spot opportunities or implication around it.
  • Strong in business case formulation including feasibility study, business planning, financial modelling.
  • Strong in transforming large amount of unorganised data into meaningful business information.
  • Strong in building Excel automated reports and tools.
  • Strong in translating findings, insights, and recommendations into executive paper and presentation. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to build relationships with and influence stakeholders, including staff, management, and external partners.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in both English and Thai.
  • Strong project management, planning and organising skills. Able to prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly.
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
  • Highly resourceful team-player and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (prefer Engineering) and Master’s degree (prefer MBA) – optional

Experience

  • 3-5 years of commodity’s global economics analysis and trend, or commodity’s global supply demand analysis and trend (e.g. Dairy, Wheat, Pork, Chicken, Meat, Seafood, Vegetable, Agricultural).

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in data analysis, business proposal and financial model development, planning, project management, and business process development in a dynamic environment.

  • Supply chain experience in food industry is a plus.
